How to properly store cheese
How to properly store cheese - a frequently asked question, especially if you often find mold on it and have to throw away a good piece. It is a waste of product and money, so we write what to do so that this does not happen.
The worst thing you can do for cheese is to leave it in plastic wrap after purchase and store it. The purchased cheese spoils faster, and this is the best environment for the reproduction of harmful bacteria. Remember that plastic wrap, like other plastic products, was designed for transportation and not for storage.
Therefore, when returning from the store, wrap the cheese in a wax wrapper. (Remember to separate the plastic wrap for recycling).
Why is cheese better stored in a wax wrapper?
- The basis of the wrapping is cotton. It has a structure with micro-holes that allow air to circulate freely around the product. This way, excess moisture will not remain near the cheese and it will not mold.
- The coating we use at Uf.Bee is made of beeswax, pine resin, and olive oil, which have the strongest known antibacterial properties. This helps preserve your cheese for as long as possible.
